• Lead global workstreams on REscale – scaling corporate procurement of renewable power and decarbonizing heat for light industry to support members in accelerating adoption of low-carbon energy solutions
• Responsible for engaging with Chief Sustainability Officers and head of various departments of member companies globally including Unilever, Danone, Dow, Royal Philips, Philip Morris
International, ITC, Aditya Birla Group, JSW Group, Google, Microsoft and others to understand challenges faced by them in energy transition and develop relevant work programmes
• Work with cross functional teams across finance, procurement, sustainability, marketing and sales to support corporates in shaping their energy strategy and action plan
• Form new and sustain existing partnerships with civil society organizations and corporates to take collective inputs of businesses to the central government on policy and regulatory recommendations
• Authored opinion pieces on low-carbon hydrogen and energy storage in the Economic Times, the world’s second most read English business newspaper
• Represent the Council at various global and local events –REM Asia 2023, COP 27, COP 26, Asia Clean Energy Forum, Renewable Energy Expo and International energy storage event
BRIDGE TO INDIA
Senior Manager – Consulting/September 2016 – April 2020
Bridge to India is a leading constancy and knowledge services provider in the renewable energy space in India.
• Led and supported various consulting assignments related to market entry and financial strategy for companies looking to enter the Indian renewable power market
• Led work on ‘Behind-the-meter energy storage market’, to assess the potential benefits from adoption of energy storage by commercial and industrial consumers, recommend policy and regulatory changes and make market growth projections.
• Co-authored a report on ‘Managing India’s PV Module Waste’, which established the urgent need to prepare an action plan for appropriate management of increasing hazardous solar module waste. The recommendations were incorporated by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the relevant policy.
• Moderated panel discussions on various topics related to renewable energy and represented the firm at various events focused on renewable energy organized by PV Magazine, ADB and GIZ.
• Part of a team providing policy advocacy services to various government ministries and departments, regulatory institutions and tendering authorities.
CUTS INTERNATIONAL/September 2015 – July 2016
Assistant Policy Analyst
CUTS International is a non-governmental organization working in the areas of trade, consumer rights, good governance and effective regulations across various sectors including energy, digital economy and agriculture.
• Led work on an FES Germany-funded project on driving energy transition in India to help scale up solar energy adoption in Rajasthan and West Bengal. The recommendations were adopted by a select committee on renewable energy of Rajasthan’s state legislative assembly and inputs were given for state’s solar policy.
• Authored a report analyzing a central scheme—Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana—for financial restructuring of distribution utilities.
• Was part of a team working on the project, ‘Regulatory effectiveness and engagement in clean energy transformations’, where we worked with government agencies to help them better implement the existing regulations.
INDIA INFRASTRUCTURE PUBLISHING/June 2012-October 2013
Research Associate
India Infrastructure Publishing is a publisher of six magazines - Renewable Watch, Power Line, Indian Infrastructure, tele.net, Gujarat Infrastructure and Smart Utilities and various market research reports on subjects related to infrastructure and power.
• Prepared an annual report- Gas in India 2012-13, which included developments in the natural gas sector ranging from policy and regulatory to operational issues.
• Was part of a team analysing global trends in the natural gas sector.
• Wrote monthly features on the European natural gas sector.
• Wrote analytical articles for in-house magazines- India Infrastructure, Gujarat Infrastructure and South East Asian Infrastructure.
