Portugal has been a pioneer in the energy transition and aims at continuing to be part of Europe’s leadership. Portugal was among the first countries in the world to commit to carbon neutrality by 2050 and has even accelerated that goal to 2045, five years before the targets set by the European Union. Already boasting one of the Europe’s highest ratios of renewable energy, Portugal is aiming for a 90% share of renewable electricity by 2030. Driven by the high oil dependence and environmental impact of the transport sector, Portugal is also investing in new sustainable energy models for electric mobility.
Portugal’s energy transition is a story of ambition and innovation, and several Portuguese companies are responsible for the remarkable development and progress of Portugal over the past years aligned with the Portuguese government commitment to take on climate action as one of its priorities. This event aims at presenting the country’s targets and priorities when it comes to our national energy and climate policies and strategies, as well as serve as a platform for Portuguese companies to present their products and services with a focus on decentralised energy production and systems.
